Pseudo Day 91 – Reproduction Quiz


Science 9 – February 27th

Although you’d think this was a joke, I think this student was actually trying to get the correct answer.  This was about 3/4 of the way through reproduction and I think the class was getting bogged down.  This is the first time that I’ve done the biology part of the science 9 and I’ve already changed my unit plan for next year, working with a much better UbD plan.  I want to spend less time on the small details (anaphase vs prophase, etc) and more time on the Big Idea and performance tasks {Take a position on reproductive technology (human or plant) and defend it}.  If you think that grade 9 students should memorize different phases of mitosis and meiosis, ask any student in grade 11 if they can recal what the phases are.  Now ask yourself again if the memorization is important.
